Rigoberto Reyes

Rigo Reyes has worked for the County of Los Angeles Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) for 27 years, where he has served as Acting Director, Chief of Consumer Protection, and Supervising Investigator. In these capacities, Rigo created and implemented many programs to protect vulnerable consumers, including immigrants, seniors, and kids in foster care. In January 2017, Rigo was appointed to lead new Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) in DCBA. OIA’s mission is to protect the rights and advance the wellbeing of immigrants and their families. To achieve this, Rigo and his team ensure that immigrants learn about and have equitable access to the wraparound support services the County has for them and their families. In close collaboration with elected officials and public and private partners, Rigo and his team also identify, recommend and implement policies and initiatives that support immigrants in realizing their dreams. Major recent projects include immigration legal representation, ethnic media utilization, language access, and capacity building for community-based organizations.

Rigo serves as an appointee of the California State Senate to the Board of Directors of the Consumer Motor Vehicle Recovery Corporation. He, along with four other board members, reviews consumer claims and approves hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for car buyers who are financially harmed by out of business car dealers. Rigo also volunteers as a board member for Neighborhood Housing Services, a non-profit organization that builds communities by developing and maintaining affordable housing, promoting homeownership, and providing financial education.

Rigo has a BA degree in political science from the University of Southern California.
