Makadella A. Tadasse (Maki) was born in Ethiopia. Her father was a provincial governor in the ancient land ruled by the Emperor Haile Selassie. Her father flees after the bloody communist takeover in Ethiopia. Later Makadella migrated to the United States where she pursued studies in Business, Communications in TV/film at California State University and American Film Institute in Los Angeles. In additions, Makadella worked on Master in Health Science, Clinical Health Educations Leader at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science Los Angeles, CA. After graduating, she secured an internship with World Disney ABC-7 for a year, gaining skills in shooting, editing, researching stories and sales, and marketing. Based on exceptional performance, Makadella worked full time employment as associate, co-producer TV/Films, News Magazine shows, and Programs for KABC-TV, ABC 7, and World Disney Companies. In additions, Makadella also produced music videos for Music Television (MTV) and Black Entertainment Television (BET) for top and rising artists. Makadella’s most substantive and illustrious works have been Blockbuster release, feature length films which she has Produced with Flash Work Productions. She has played multiple roles including script writer, director, stage manager, costume designer, sound and lighting, and music director for movies which is “Don’t Touch if You Ain’t Prayed” “Pastor Jones Part 1 and 2” “House of Grace Part 1and Part2” In Additions, Makadella’s most personally significant film has been an emotive documentary DVD release Movies, which is, Ethiopian Immigrants in America, Yearning for Peace, Primal Cry, The Spirit of Africa, which captures the struggles, achievements, aspirations and dilemmas of Africans living all over the world. Health and Wellness Work Experience: West Los Angeles VA Medical Center and California Veterans Home Responsible for providing assistance to the professional staff, the medical center provides primary care and specialty health services, including mental health care, women’s health, cancer treatment, and research. RESEARCH PAPER /SYSTEMATIC REVIEW STUDY TITLE: Therapeutic Effects of Cannabis on Cancer Related Pain, Chemotherapy Induced Side Effects, and Tumor/Cell Growth Reduction in Patients with Cancer publications research In additions, the development of a five-minute film to raise awareness of the issue of female genital circumcision all over the world. ORGANIZATIONS As a board member of the African Diaspora Foundation ADF, Makadella has played a significant role in establishing links with individuals and organizations in South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Ethiopia to share information, foster exchange and identify collective work. In 2006, on behalf of ADF, she went on mission to West Africa to contribute to a peace initiative. While there, she supported the development of a curriculum to teach principles of tolerance, conflict resolution, reconciliation, and unity and before leaving, produced and broadcast to much acclaim, a 30-minute documentary, “Yearning for Peace”. As a way of expanding her horizons and experience, Makadella later between entertainment businesses undertook a stint in business enterprise, working for a number of real estate companies in sales and marketing and helping to arrange deals for investor groups as well. Makadella’s life reflects a strong humanitarian orientation. She has served as Education Program Specialist at Covenant House in California where she has provided students with academic, vocational, peer education and life skills, career planning and personal support. She has been working with the Aviva Family and Children’s Services Centre where she is responsible for supervising, counseling, and teaching clients in Independent Living Program (ILP) and Work Investment Act (WIA), including focus in leadership skills, health and nutrition, job readiness and job searches. PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS/LEADERSHIP/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Supporting, encouraging, and advocating people within the field of Community Health, health education and preventions. Thought and assist peace and conflict resolutions. Assisted people in war torn countries suffering from P.T.S.D. In additions worked with most severe cases of PTSD, the major cause of suicides in the Armed Forces globally. Rehabilitating veterans suffering from P.T.S.D. and homelessness in associations with Veterans First, a non Profit organization in Los Angeles County. Makadella’s solid foundation in business management, her artistic creativity, and skills in film production and broadcasting will help any projects. Her experience in Health Education preventions, counseling, and youth development will bring more interest in the younger generations. In additions, her passion for promoting peace and hope and her drive for making a tangible difference in people’s lives, combine to make her a multi-faceted and dynamic powerhouse poised to make a significant contribution to the economic and cultural renaissance of USA and Africa.
